Slime Lord is an Apple ARKit game that you compete with the other player to get the highest score.
Players stack blocks on the ground. The block on the top of an tower can gain you score. The score is based on the height of the tower.
The game is turn-based, which means each player has their round. In their round they can stack an certain amount of blocks. After the blocks are consumed, the player has to turn their iPad to another player. In the end, the player with the highest score wins.
The game explored how to utilize the space in the real world, instead of putting everything on a table.
The project was developed by a team of 5 within one week during BVW round 3. And it was chosen as one of the 13 projects out of 80 been show cased in the BVW Festival at the end of the semester.
I was in charge of player interaction part of the game. I implemented the dropping mechanism of the blocks, and integrated it with Apple ARKit API. I implemented the calibration of the world coordinates. I also implemented the rounds turning rules, UI, the game start and end screen. I contributed ideas about exploring the room space during the brainstorming phase.
